The Sierra Elm shopping center located in Auburn at the corner of Highway 49 and Fulweiler was shut down yesterday afternoon when the smell of a rotten eggsa signaled a natural gas leak. Fulweiler Ave was also closed to through traffic along with the centers parking lot as emergency crews responded. A PG&E employee was able to fix a leak from a line that led to a mainline meter. This center has been the scene of a previous gas leak and also a fire that gutted the Sears store in the center. Center parking and roads were reopened about two hours after the initial 911 call was received at 1 p.m.
