The massive cleanup has started in Butte County and in the city of Paradise, following the disastrous wildfire that destroyed several thousand homes and businesses last November. 80 percent or nearly 11 thousand property owners have signed right-of-way entry agreements to allow Cal Recycle to start the removal of toxins from the fire devastated area. The actual removal began on Feb. 8th but has been delayed several days due to weather. So far 100 properties have been completed and officials estimate a year to complete the job. Each property has about 200 tons of debris and in all, they estimate 5 million tons of debris will need to be removed and taken to landfills.
