The Placer County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Efrain Gonzalez and Yessennia Candelaria owners and operators of Advanced Medical Spa of Rocklin. Charges against Gonzalez include Grand Theft by False Pretenses and 15 counts of Mayhem. He is also charged with Conspiracy to Commit Grand Theft, Conspiracy to Disseminate False or Misleading Information, 3 counts of Conspiracy to Practice Medicine without a License, and Conspiracy to Operate a Clinic without Accreditation.
The charges were filed as a result of a lengthy investigation led by investigators from the State Medical Board in connection with Franchise Tax Board, the DEA. The couple was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Placer County Court on 37 charges. Gonzalez was arraigned and plead not guilty. At the request of Gonzalez’s attorney, Tom Johnson, the arraignment on Candelaria was continued until May 6th, 2013 in Department 31 of the Placer County Superior Court so that she may retain an attorney.
Candelaria Is charged in 24 felony counts similar to Gonzalez as well as felony Possession and Transportation of a Controlled Substance and a misdemeanor count of being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.
Gonzalez and Candelaria were arrested on March 15, 2013 in connection with the execution of search warrants on the couple’s business, Advanced Medical Spa and their Rocklin home.
