Because personal income taxes are a major source of revenue to the State, and because April is a big month for tax receipts, State Controller John Chiang provides a daily tally of personal income taxes for the month.
Preliminary reports show the State has collected a net total of more than $12 billion 4 hundred thousand dollars in personal income taxes so far in April.
The Governor’s budget estimates a total of $12.746 billion of income taxes will be collected in April, which would bring projected fiscal year-to-date personal income tax revenues as of April 30 to $51.414 billion.
Last year, personal income taxes accounted for 60.74 percent of all State General Fund revenues. Of those receipts, 14.14 percent arrived during the month of April.
