The contractor officially began construction activities on the $20 million dollar Dorsey Drive Interchange in Grass Valley. Initial activities began Monday may 6th, focusing on preparing State Route 20/49 for its eventual widening and setting up the equipment staging area. Grass Valley city Manager Dan Holler cautions drivers to be mindful in the area.
The Dorsey Drive Interchange project has been 20-years in the making and was nearly shelved after the state ended redevelopment funding but the city was able to push the project through. Holler says the interchange is important to the growing city’s infrastructure for several reasons.
In addition to Construction of the Dorsey overcrossing structure, the project will include auxiliary lanes from Idaho-Maryland to Brunswick road, on and off ramps, the widening of Dorsey Drive and the realignment of adjoining streets off Dorsey. The project is expected to take 2-years to complete.
