Boat Sinks in Lake Tahoe Over Holiday Weekend

A boat sank in Lake Tahoe over the weekend. On Saturday at 2:00 PM, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s boat unit responded to a report of a vessel taking on water near Dollar Point in Lake Tahoe.  El Dorado County Sheriff Boating Deputies responded with the US Coast Guard to the incident.  The El Dorado County Boat Unit arrived and found six individuals in the water clinging to the hull of the overturned boat.  The sailboat that had made the distress call was able to rescue three victims from the water, but struggled against heavy winds with the remaining victims.  Sheriff’s deputies pulled two victims from the water, while the Coast Guard pulled the remaining four victims into the Coast Guard Boat.

All victims were transported to the Public Utility Dock on the north shore of Lake Tahoe where awaiting paramedics transported the victims to the hospital for hypothermia.
