“Frac’ing” is the topic at the next Canyon Keepers meeting June 4.
Laird Thompson, PhD geologist, oil industry expert and Canyon Keeper for more than 10 years, will give a talk on frac’ing in America: “why we do it, whether or not we need it, and what it is costing us in dollars and environmental impact.” He will speak during the Canyon Keepers meeting on Tuesday, June 4.
Labeling his talk “the good, the bad and the ugly,” Laird has worked in the industry for 40 years and has been enjoying hiking and kayaking in the American River Canyon and surrounding area for the last decade.
The meeting begins at 6:15 PM in the Canyon View Community Center in Auburn. Canyon Keepers meetings are open to anyone interested.
The Canyon View Community Center is located at 471 Maidu Drive in Auburn. Light refreshments are served beginning at 5:45 p.m.
