Nevada County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue volunteers were out in force in Southern Nevada County with their annual Stuff the Pack Fundraiser. Sarah Rogers was out in front of the CVS store making sure everyone stayed hydrated on the hot humid Saturday and explained the goal for this year’s fundraiser.
The all volunteer group received no funding for the program from the Sheriff’s department and depends on the generosity of the community to help with larger purchases such as the storage trailer. Each volunteer is responsible for their own costs whether they have a K-9 search dog, an ATV or other equipment needed in search and rescue activities throughout the region.
The Nevada County Search and Rescue team assists with missing person, lost and injured people in our wilderness areas and any response where there search and rescue skills and equipment can aid the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department.
Sarah and the other volunteers will be out in front of CVS on Combie road near Lake of the Pines until 6 o’clock Saturday evening taking your donations to stuff the pack.
