The Planes are coming to Grass Valley this weekend for Air Fest 2013. The biggest plane co-piloted by Jim Ricketts, is the DC-4. It’s the only one still flying on the West Coast and will be the largest plane to have ever attended AirFest (and among the biggest to land at the Nevada County Air Port) It’s a mid-1940’s air plane used for oil spill cleanup, Ricketts tells us what we can expect to see beginning Friday afternoon in Grass Valley.
The fun begins Friday night with the Hangar party Dinner Dance beginning at 5:30 with Moonlight Swing Big Band performing until 10:30. Tickets must be purchased in advance at SPD Markets, The Beam Center, The Nevada County Airport or Raley’s on Freeman Lane in Grass Valley. Then Air fest kicks off Saturday from 8 in the morning until 4pm with war birds, jets, vintage air craft and even RC models. Rickettes says the DC-4 is amazing to see fly.
