Dustin Penn-Henry, a 2013 graduate of Del Oro High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent with the NCAA to play men’s volleyball at the collegiate level at Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina. Coker College Men’s Volleyball team competes in the NCAA in Division II.
And he played for three years at Penryn and continued for the next four years playing under Coach Levy Oats at Del Oro High School. He has played many seasons with the Northern California Volleyball Club (NCVC) in Rocklin and recently competed on the NCVC team at the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships in Reno, Nevada.
Penn-Henry stands only 5’10”, relatively short by volleyball standards, but with a 35” vertical leap he more than makes up for his slight stature. The humble Penn-Henry says he did pretty good.
He has played both outside hitter and defensive specialist, and looks forward to playing whatever position he can earn as a Coker Cobra.
Not only a great athlete, Penn-Henry also received an academic scholarship from Coker College where he plans to major in Biology. Penn-Henry says he has a 3.0 grade point average here but that carries a bit more weight in South Carolina.
Upon graduation from Del Oro High School Penn-Henry was recognized for 13 years of perfect attendance from kindergarten through 12th grade.
