Cal-Fire Investigators were on the scene of the Foresthill Bridge while the fire was still burning. Investigators returned Wednesday to take a careful look at the fire and to find a potential cause for the 4-acre blaze that threatened homes and closed roads in the area.
Containment lines were already cut in for a scheduled control burn that was cancelled due to winds 2 weeks ago according to Auburn State Recreation Area Supervising Ranger Scott Liske. Cal Fire’s Daniel Berlant says the worked of cutting shaded fuel breaks into the canyon rim to protect the city of Auburn assisted firefighters by reducing fuel loads under the bridge.
Cal-Fire Investigators are taking their time with the investigation and Berlant says they have not released a cause for the fire.
The investigation continues.
