Grass Valley CHP arrested a wanted felon late Wednesday morning. At approximately 11:05 AM, a 30 year old male Clayton Abbott the 3rd was driving a 2002 Yamaha off-road motorcycle northbound on LaBarr Meadows Rd near Dog Bar Rd. As the motorcycle approached CHP Officer Ingram, who was conducting speed enforcement on the side of the road, Abbott abruptly made a U-turn and sped away in the opposite direction at a very high rate of speed. Officer Ingram initiated a traffic enforcement stop but Abbott continued fleeing southbound onto Dog Bar Rd. Abbott led the officer in a pursuit for approximately 6 minutes, continuing from Dog Bar Rd to Rattlesnake Rd and nearly to SR-174. Abbott abandoned his motorcycle near Lower Colfax Rd and fled on foot until he was apprehended by CHP officers a short distance away.
Abbott was found to be in possession of a large amount of electronics and other property at the time of his arrest. A subsequent investigation by the CHP and the Grass Valley Police Department determined the property was stolen from a recent burglary in the area. CHP Officer Greg Tassone says Law Enforcement agencies had been looking for Abbot.
Abbott was booked into the Nevada County jail for multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
