Shots Fired in Old Town Auburn

A gun was fired outside the California Club Saturday morning, sending patrons running for cover from the Old Town Auburn Tavern.

On July 20th around 1:30 in the morning, Auburn Police Officers and Placer County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the California Club Bar in Old Town Auburn for a report of shots fired outside the bar.

When Officers arrived, there was a large crowd with numerous subjects fleeing the area. Detective Sgt. Dale Hutchins with the Auburn Police Department says there was also a victim of battery found near the bar.

According to witnesses a large fight involving several subjects took place when an unknown person in the crowd brandished a handgun and fired several shots. It was not determined in which direction the shots were fired. The battery victim was transported to the hospital for his injuries.
