The American Fire continues to burn North East of Foresthill spreading smoke throughout the foothills. Smoke continues to be a health issue. Air quality specialist Ann Hobbs with the Placer county Air Pollution Control District says you can see the smoke has returned after a couple days of blue skies and we are back in the unhealthy range.
The advice is to continue to avoid the smoke.
The American Fire has burned 25 thousand acres and is 88% contained. Full containment is expected by September 1st. The fire started on Saturday afternoon August 10th 17 miles north east of Foresthill in steep canyons with heavy timber along the American river.
