A free barbecue, live music and family fun await participants in “Recovery Happens 2013,” an event to be held Saturday, Sept. 21
Open to the entire community, the 13th annual celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Auburn Recreation Park, 123 Recreation Drive. The park is located near Old Town Auburn.
The event is organized each year to acknowledge people who are on the road to recovery from alcohol or drug addiction or on the path to recovery from mental health issues.
This year’s celebration will feature live music by Phillip Dudley and the Doo-Rights, raffle prizes and This year’s celebration will also feature community interest booths with literature. Bounce houses, balloon animals and face painting.
On Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Placer County Board of Supervisors approved a proclamation supporting “Recovery Happens” and declaring September 2013 to be Mental Health, Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month in Placer County.
The event is part of a nationwide celebration held each year to support people recovering from alcohol or drug abuse and to recognize some of their many success stories. The celebration also helps inform the public about the positive effects that recovery and treatment programs have on communities.
