Placerville Hires New Police Chief

On September 10, 2013, Modesto Police Lieutenant Scott Heller will be sworn in as the Chief of Police for the City of Placerville.  

During his 17-year career with Modesto Police Department, Lieutenant Heller has held numerous assignments including Patrol, Tactical Patrol Unit, Robbery/Homicide, SDEA Task Force Sergeant, SWAT Sergeant, Commander of the Gang and Narcotics Units and Assistant Investigative Services Division Commander.  Placerville City Manager M. Cleve Morris is looking forward to Lieutenant Heller leading the Placerville police force.

            Placerville City Manager on New PD Chief 

Chief Heller has a Master’s Degree in Emergency Services Administration from California State University, Long Beach and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from California State University Stanislaus.  He is also a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and the International Association of Chiefs of Police “Leadership in Police Organizations” program.  Prior to starting his Law Enforcement career at Modesto Police Department, Lieutenant Heller served in the Air Force.
