Rain in the Foothills

Rain has returned to the foothills. Clouds came in overnight Sunday bringing thunderstorms with significant precipitation into the Placer, Nevada and El Dorado counties.

Heavy rainfall fell over the Sierra Monday morning, with local areas reporting over and inch and a half of rainfall. An urban/small stream flood advisory was issued for the communities of Grass Valley, Nevada City, and Downieville through Monday evening.

Tonight, Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunny and 86 is the forecast for today with clear skies and highs in the upper 80s and low 90s through the week.
