DUI Arrests Up – No DUI Fatalities Reported During Special Enforcement

The Summer/Labor Day National Anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in a significant number of DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 7 DUI deployments overnight in Placer County.

From Friday August 16, through Midnight Sunday September 2, officers representing 7 county law enforcement agencies arrested 96 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2012 77 DUI arrests occurred during the same seventeen (17) day time period. No DUI deaths were reported.

Auburn Police Officer Chris Forman says making the public aware of their choices is the true purpose of the added enforcement.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
