Nevada County Search and Rescue

A story of Domestic Violence in Grass Valley does have a happy ending after one of the parties went missing and was located by Nevada County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue K-9.

Early Saturday morning the Search & Rescue Team was called out to assist Grass Valley Police Department in locating an injured man who had been hurt in trying to break-up a domestic dispute. The team was called out to Condon Park at 2 AM and 30 team members responded by 3 AM. Initially 3 teams were deployed including trackers and area K9’s while the command center was being set up.

Sgt. Sam Brown with the Search and Rescue team says within about 20 minutes a K9 team found the injured man.

Sgt. Brown says the public may not know that Search and Rescue is called out for lost hikers in the Sierras and also for missing persons right in town.

The all volunteer group of over 100 pays for all their own equipment and volunteers all their time to help in their community. They rely on donations for some of their bigger equipment needs.
