Summer Homeless numbers are up by 20% according to Suzi DeFossett with the Gathering Inn. Placer County’s homeless shelter experienced unprecedented summer numbers up to 75 people seeking shelter nightly at the Gathering Inn in Roseville. Additionally the shelter has seen 18 residents new to homelessness in August alone, in July there were 25.
DeFossett says the high numbers give indication of even more people this winter and they need to be prepared to offer basic needs of food and safe overnight shelter. DeFossett says the proof of the Gathering Inn’s success is in the numbers.
Suzi says they have the support of Wells Fargo in the form of a $25 thousand dollar grant.
