BOS In Tahoe this Week

The Placer County Board of Supervisors will hold a two-day meeting at North Lake Tahoe next week that will get under way on Monday, Oct. 21 with ceremonies celebrating two Kings Beach projects and conclude on Tuesday, Oct. 22 with a tour of a new Tahoe City museum.

 During Tuesday’s session, the board will consider authorizing Chairman Jim Holmes to sign two letters to Gov. Edmund G. Brown, Jr. that detail Placer County’s concerns about the proposed Bay Delta Conservation Plan and will receive an update on proposed improvements to Fanny Bridge and the nearby intersection of State Routes 28 and 89.

 Monday’s agenda features the two ceremonies:

  • A grand-opening celebration for the Domus Development Project to be held at 2 p.m. at 204 Chipmunk St. in Kings Beach; and
  • A ribbon-cutting and tour of the Community House to take place at 3:30 p.m. Community House is located at 265 Bear St. in Kings Beach.

The Domus Project is a new affordable housing development in Kings Beach. It was a joint effort by Placer County and Domus Development.

Community House is a new service center that offers a wide range of services, including professional counseling, informal support groups and enrichment classes. The project was a joint effort by the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, Placer County, S.H. Cowell Foundation and three agencies that are housed in the center: the Tahoe Safe Alliance, North Tahoe Family Resource Center and Project MANA.

On Tuesday, the board will convene its meeting at 9 a.m. in the North Tahoe Events Center, 8318 North Lake Blvd. in Kings Beach.

Tuesday’s meeting will conclude with a tour of the new Museum of Sierra Ski History and 1960 Winter Olympics. The museum is located in the Boatworks Mall, 760 N. Lake Blvd. in Tahoe City.
