Teen Motorcyclist Run Over Near Lake of the Pines

A teenaged motorcycle rider lost control of his bike Thursday near Lake of the Pines. Just before 2pm a 17-year old juvenile was riding his motorcycle westbound on Magnolia Road at a high rate of speed.  A 59 year old Grass Valley man was driving his Dodge pickup truck eastbound on Magnolia Road at approximately 30 miles per hour.  The motorcyclist was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to negotiate a turn in the road. He lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the roadway. He then slid across the roadway directly into the path of the pickup truck. The driver attempted to stop but was unable to avoid a collision; he ran over the cyclist’s helmet, causing significant head injuries.

Fire department/medical personnel responded to the scene along with CHP.  The motorcyclist was flown by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. CHP is handling the investigation and alcohol/drugs are not a suspected factor in this collision. Magnolia Rd was partially closed while emergency personnel worked at the scene.
