The public is invited to the event “Honoring a True American Hero” hosted by the City of Auburn. The dinner is being held in the Van Howd Studio on New Airport Rd in Auburn.
The event honors Auburn resident and American hero Colonel Clarence E. “Bud” Anderson. Colonel Anderson became a Triple Ace by the age 22. He served our country in Viet Nam as a squadron commander, then later a test pilot at Wright Paterson Field and finally the head of the Flight Test Facility of McDonnell Douglas Corporation. Councilmen Dr. Bill Kirby says this is a fundraiser to complete the statue dedicated to Colonel Anderson.
Congressman Doug LaMalfa will announce the nomination of Colonel Anderson for the California Hall of Fame. Additionally, sculptor and Auburn resident Doug Van Howd will unveil the life sized bronzed statue of Colonel Anderson to be permanently displayed at the Auburn Municipal Airport.
