Combie Power Pole Hit 5th Time in 2 years

Bear River Students and Commuters leaving Lake of the Pines had a slow drive on Combie Road Tuesday morning because for the 3rd time this year and the 5th time over the past 2 years a driver has hit the power pole that sits just right of the fog line near Armstrong road. Officer James Cornwall with the Grass Valley CHP Office explains a woman driving her 2012 Dodge Avenger home from the grocery store around 9:30 Monday evening was distracted and hit the pole.

The female driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. PG&E and CHP worked through the night to remove the downed lines, escort traffic through the area and install a new pole. PG&E is considering adding a guard rail in front of the pole to reduce the threat of a similar incident.
