The Placer County Board of Supervisors presented the commemorative Coin Awards Tuesday morning. Supervisor Kirk Uhler presented a coin to fellow Eagle Scout Steven Lease for his contributions to the county. Lease is an active Rotarian and involved with Scouts but may be better known as the cookie guy freely offering cookies to anyone and everyone an donating them with no expectation of anything in return which is part of Lease’s philosophy of life.
Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery presented 2 coins to Hollywood stunt man and race car driver Gary Davis and Colton Nelson. Coltan suffers from a rare blood disease and has to suffer lengthy treatments. Colton doesn’t get to play with his peers and is often kept at home where he is safe.
Colton recently discovered the thrill of race cars and is a regular at the Auburn racetrack where he met Gary Davis and the pair have been living life to the fullest by sharing their joy of racing. Coltan’s dad shared his thoughts on the coin presentation and the great gift Davis has given by opening up the world to his son.
A photo album of several of the awards recipients at Tuesday board of Supervisors meeting is on our KAHI face book page. The Supervisors award coins to recipients in recognition for acts of heroism, longstanding service or exceptional acts that have improved or impacted people’s lives.
