A near head on collision on Foresthill rd sent 2 to the hospital Tuesday morning. At 8:30 am, Ronald Roussey (age 67 from Foresthill, Ca.) was driving his silver 2008 Dodge pick-up westbound on Foresthill Rd., west of Upper Lake Clementine Rd., at an unknown speed. Terry David (age 54 from Newcastle, Ca.) was driving his tow truck for Mid Sierra tow eastbound on Foresthill Rd., also west of Upper Lake Clementine Rd., at approximately 50 mph. Auburn CHP Officer David Martinez says for reasons still under investigation, Mr. Roussey allowed his vehicle to drift completely into the eastbound lane, causing the front-end and left side of the Dodge pick-up to impact the left side of the tow truck.
As a result of the collision, the Dodge truck sustained major front-end and left side damage and the tow truck sustained moderate damage to its left side. Mr. Roussey sustained major injuries and was transported via AMR ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center (SRMC). Mr. David sustained minor injuries and was also transported to SRMC via AMR ambulance.
Both vehicles came to rest in the traffic lanes, causing the westbound and eastbound lanes to be shut down for approximately 45 minutes, due to vehicle debris and fluid.
Several local agencies responded and assisted at this scene. The collision is being investigated by Auburn Area CHP Officer Karla. Cal Fire assisted with patient care and extrication. Placer County Sheriffs Deputies assisted with scene safety, State Parks assisted with traffic control, and County Roads assisted with scene clean-up as well as traffic control.
