Reckless Driving Lands One in Hospital Then Jail

Tuesday at approximately 8:20 PM, CHP Dispatch received numerous calls of a high speed reckless vehicle on I-80 eastbound near Applegate at speeds in excess of 100 mph while passing other vehicles in the center divide.  Gold Run CHP Officers Lyman and Maniord got behind the vehicle on I-80 eastbound at Dutch Flat.  When officers attempted to get the suspect vehicle to yield, the vehicle rapidly accelerated away again at speeds in excess of 100 mph while traveling in the center divide.  Gold Run CHP then began pursuing the vehicle.  The pursuit continued eastbound on I-80 with the suspect traveling at high speeds and in a reckless manner with the suspect nearly colliding at Nyack Road and at Yuba Gap.  As the suspect vehicle entered the curved portion of I-80 eastbound east of Highway 20, he lost control of his vehicle.  The vehicle spun out of control in a counter clockwise direction and collided with the center median wall.  A felony stop was initiated and the solo driver was taken into custody.  Officer Maniord, transported Mr. Kenyon to Tahoe Forest Hospital for medical clearance.  While at the hospital, Mr. Kenyon became uncooperative and combative and had to be restrained by CHP and Truckee P.D. Units.  He was then booked into Nevada County Jail.
