A reckless driver is lucky he escaped with his life Christmas Eve not to mention everyone who was sharing the stretch of Interstate 80 with him from Auburn to the Gold Run area.
On December 24, at around 8:20 AM, CHP Dispatch received numerous calls of a high speed reckless vehicle on I-80 eastbound near Applegate at speeds in excess of 100 mph while passing other vehicles in the center-divide. Gold Run CHP Officer Chris Nave says Gold Run Officers picked up the pursuit and got behind the vehicle on I-80 eastbound at Dutch Flat.
A felony stop was initiated and the solo driver was taken into custody. Officers transported John Forest Kenyon of Sacramento to Tahoe Forest Hospital for medical clearance. While at the hospital, Mr. Kenyon became uncooperative and combative and had to be restrained by CHP and Truckee P.D. Units. He was then booked into Nevada County Jail.
