So you think your cause needs to be put to voters. Lisa Cramer with the Placer County Clerk Recorders Office says the paperwork that potential candidates can use to reduce or eliminate their mandatory filing fee is available from the Placer County Office of Elections.
This paperwork, the Signature-in-Lieu petitions, may be circulated among registered voters until February 20, 2014. By collecting voters’ signatures on the petition, the candidate may cover all or any prorated portion of the filing fee.
Candidate filing begins on February 10, 2014. Candidate filing closes March 7, 2014.
Candidates can pick up the Signature-in-Lieu petitions at the Placer County Office of Elections, located at 2956 Richardson Drive, Auburn. Hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday excluding holidays. More information can be found at our website at www.placerelections.com or by calling 530-886-5650.
