APD starts New Year by Nabbing Wanted Felon

Auburn Police Department started the New Year by nabbing a wanted felon.

On January 1, at 10:50 p.m., Officer Joe Almeida observed a white jeep swerving over multiple lanes of Highway 49. Officer Almeida initiated a traffic enforcement stop on the jeep on southbound Highway 49 near Palm Avenue. Auburn Police Sgt Mike Garlock says The jeep’s driver, later identified as 45 year old Thomas Cook, led officers on a brief pursuit onto westbound Interstate 80.

APD Felony Arrest

Eventually, Cook pulled to the shoulder and stopped along the off-ramp at the Newcastle Road exit. Cook and his passenger, 44 year old Judi Dean-Turk out of Roseville, were taken into custody with the assistance of Placer County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol.

Cook was arrested for evading a police officer and for having a warrant due to being a parolee at large. Dean-Turk was arrested for a felony warrant out of Placer County.
