The Seismic retrofit and lead paint removal project one the Foresthill Bridge was due to wrap up by the end of 2013 but Placer County board of Supervisor outgoing Chairman Jim Homes says it will be a few more months.
Construction on the Foresthill Bridge began in late January 2011. This famous bridge (the tallest in California) is located about one mile east of Interstate 80 on Foresthill Road, spanning the North Fork Canyon above the American River. Built in the early 1970s, the estimated $74.4 million project will improve the bridge’s performance in a seismic event and integrity.
The County of Placer owns, operates, and maintains the bridge.
