Public Invited to ASRA Canyon Keepers Orientation Workshop

The Auburn State Recreation Area (ASRA) Canyon Keepers is currently recruiting volunteers for the 2014 season.

If you love the American River Canyons and have an interest in helping State Parks protect, manage and educate the public on the wonders of our local ASRA, why not consider becoming a trained Canyon Keeper docent?

Canyon Keepers and State Parks will be hosting an Orientation Workshop to share information about ASRA and the various activities of its volunteers.  The workshop will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 17 in the Murphy House at the ASRA ranger station at 501 El Dorado Street (Highway 49) approximately one mile south of downtown Auburn.

Canyon Keepers lead hikes, are stationed in the park to assist and share information with the public, give presentations on a wide variety of history and natural history topics, do trail maintenance, operate the Junior Rangers program, and advise and assist State Parks in numerous other improvement projects and programs.    For more information call 530-887-8335.
