The Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District is asking Placer County residents to be mindful of 2 new mosquito varieties just outside our area. Aida Heiser the Public Information Officer for the District tells about these 2 new varieties.
Heiser says these new mosquitoes carry more than West Nile Virus.
Heiser says you can cut down on mosquitoes around you property to make sure there is no standing water. Heiser says standing water is small as a bottle cap can be breeding ground for these mosquitoes. Also Heiser says these mosquitoes will bite during day light. Most mosquitoes come out at dawn and dusk. If you notice any unusual mosquito activity or you want more information you can contact the District toll free at (888) 768-2343. The District provides year-round services to the residents of Placer County. District technicians promptly respond to requests for service and on-site inspections, and provide information about vectors including but not limited to mosquitoes, ticks, yellow jackets and rats.
