The Auburn-Foresthill Bridge Renewal Celebration was held Wednesday morning on the Auburn – Foresthill Bridge, celebrating the Seismic Retro¬fit and Paint Project. Placer County and partner agencies commemorated the renewal of California’s highest bridge at 730 feet above the American River. Matt Rendell Placer County’s Senior Engineer was happy to celebrate the largest transportation project in Placer county’s history.
Randell says there is some striping left to do so you will see some cones for another week or so.
The retrofitted bridge has upgraded safety and maintenance features to benefit motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. Randell says it was a team effort.
Various dignitaries spoke and the public enjoyed taking pictures overlooking the canyon and the American river. Tours were also conducted throughout the morning on the catwalk that runs below the bridge. KAHI’s Mary West took the tour and you can see a photo album of pictures on our KAHI facebook page.
