Residents need not be alarmed if they spot scores of emergency vehicles at Colfax High School on Saturday, April 26.
Emergency agencies from throughout the area will be participating in a drill, not a real-life emergency.
The 2014 Placer County Multi-Casualty Incident (MCI) drill is scheduled between 8 a.m. and noon.
MCI drills are large, complex multi-casualty incidents designed to tax the resources of responding agencies. They give participants opportunities to practice the kind of coordination needed during major emergencies.
The April 26 drill at Colfax High will give participants a chance to test school communication, reunification and other emergency procedures. The drill scenario focuses on an active shooter being on campus.
The list of participants includes Colfax High School officials, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, County Office of Emergency Services, CAL FIRE , American Red Cross , and Alta Community Emergency Response Team. Other participants include fire districts and allied public safety agencies in Placer County.
