Auburn Union School District Announces New Superintendent

After a very thorough statewide search, I am pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees has completed the search process and will be voting on Wednesday to approve Dr. Laura Grassmann as the Superintendent. This will conclude a nearly six month extensive process that has included feedback and input from our employees, our parents and our community.

We received over 20 qualified applicants who brought with them a range of experience and knowledge. To attract so many good candidates really is a testament to the hard work you have all been doing and how Auburn Union has become a destination district.

Since July, Laura has served as Auburn Union’s Interim Superintendent successfully leading us all through the challenges of Common Core, the change over to the Local Control Funding Formula and the implementation of our Strategic Plan.

Laura came to Auburn Union in 2012 as the Director of Special Education. She has extensive local educational experience as both a teacher and an administrator working in several districts throughout Placer County. Laura is a graduate of Princeton University, holds a master’s degree from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, and a PhD from the American University. Laura lives in Auburn with her husband and two children, who attend EV Cain Middle School and Skyridge Elementary.
I welcome all of you to attend our board meeting on Wednesday, May 7 at 6:30p.m. at the District Office. Laura’s appointment has been placed on the agenda for review and approval. You will be able to view the agenda and packet later today at http://auesd.csbaagendaonline.net.
