EMERGENCY DRILL TO BE HELD SATURDAY AT ROCKLIN HIGH SCHOOL

LARGE EMERGENCY DRILL TO BE HELD SATURDAY MAY 17 AT ROCKLIN HIGH SCHOOL

Residents need not be alarmed if they spot scores of emergency vehicles at Rocklin High School on Saturday, May 17

Emergency agencies from throughout the area will be participating in a drill, not a real-life emergency.

The 2014 Placer County Multi-Casualty Incident drill is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. and last until about noon.

MCI drills are large, complex multi-casualty incidents designed to tax the resources of responding agencies. They give participants opportunities to practice the kind of coordination needed during major emergencies.

The May 17 drill at Rocklin High also will give participants a chance to test school communication, reunification and other emergency procedures.  The drill scenario focuses on an active shooter being on campus and a secondary hazardous materials spill.

There will be several helicopters participating in the drill as well as ambulances.

The list of agencies that plan to participate includes:

  • The Rocklin Police Department;
  • The Rocklin Fire Department;
  • Police departments from Roseville and Lincoln;
