Statewide Primary is Tuesday June 3rd

The Statewide Primary is Tuesday June 3rd, 2014. Polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters in Nevada and El Dorado Counties will be choosing from 5 candidates for Superior Court Judge Seat 1. Many local seats are uncontested such a Sheriff in Nevada, Placer and El Dorado counties and Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of voters in Nevada and Placer.

The County Supervisor races have been some of the most active. In Placer County Incumbent Robert Weygandt has addressed various accusation from Opponent Reggie Bronner. In Nevada County Incumbent Terry Lamphier has had a race fought in social media and on street corner from opponent Dan Miller. Jack Duran is running uncontested for re-election to the 1st District Placer County Supervisor position.

14 candidates are running against incumbent Governor Jerry Brown. The top 2 vote getters regardless of party will move onto the November election.

Congressman Tom McClintock is being challenged by fellow republican Art Moore and Jeffery Gerlach with no part affiliation.

Doug LaMalfa has 3 challengers for his US Representative seat in the 1st district.

Other uncontested races in Placer County include Placer County District Attorney Scott Owens. The position of County District Attorney will be one to watch with incumbent Cliff Newell getting a run for his money from challenger David Alkire.

Voters will be asked if the county should pay for the costs associated with state mandates in Prop 42 but also makes access to public meetings and public records a constitutional requirement. Prop 41 is a $600 million bond to provide housing to low income veterans.
