Avoid The 7 Task Force Keeps Drunk Drivers Off Roadways

The Avoid the 7 Task Force ended the weekend resulting in several DUI arrests throughout the county.

Auburn CHP reported that they made arrests on three drunk drivers during the Maximum Enforcement Period in Auburn.  The campaign ran from 6:00pm on Thursday thru midnight Sunday.  One of the drunk drivers was also involved in a DUI accident.

On Saturday evening, Auburn PD conducted a DUI checkpoint at Elm and Highway 49 where one was arrested for driving under the influence and  two were issued citations for other vehicle code violations.

According to Dee Dee Gunther of the Roseville Police Department, three DUI arrests were made with one of them being involved in an accident with minor injuries.

A total of 33 arrests were made during this year’s Avoid the 7 collation, down from last year.  In 2013, 42 people were arrested for DUI during the coalition.

On Sunday, Rocklin Police Department reported via Twitter that in the first 30 hours of the holiday weekend, 14 people were killed in traffic collisions in California.  40% of those killed were not wearing seat belts.
