It seems like this summer is a blur and with school just around the corner, there is still plenty of summertime fun to be had. The Gold Country Fair is just 37 days away, and entry deadlines for livestock, handmade goods like clothing or quilting, and even artwork is fast approaching on August 5th at 6:00pm.
The Fair starts on September 4th and goes untill the 7th.
Junior Farmers will have one more month of raising their entries before the judging and auction.
The Junior Livestock Auction event is held on Saturday, September 6th at 10:00 am sharp. The sale is made up of market animals that are selected, fed and shown by by 4-H and FFA members. The animals are placed according to market grades for the auction sale order.
Judging of the prime market animals requires skill, and the Gold Country Fair uses judges who are knowledgeable and skillful when it comes to awarding ribbons. By supporting the Junior Livestock Auction, buyers are contributing to the education of today’s youth, our citizens of tomorrow.
The meat you purchase from the auctioned livestock is a great way to stock up your freezer for the winter with top grade meat grown by Jr. Livestock. Another option to filling up your freezer, would be a nice donation to a local charity with your purchased meat.

There are lots of new options this year, including Ferris Wheel Speed Dating and Hispanic Day on Sunday. Music will be bountiful during the fair, and on Hispanic Day, some Mariachi and Salsa bands will take the stage.
If 37 days seems too long to wait to go to a fair, then the Nevada County Fair is coming up sooner. The Nevada County Fair is just around the corner.
Fair officials are using social media to promote their fair with daily Instagram photo contests where prizes will be awarded. There is even a yo-yo contest, a kids singing contest, and a knitting demonstration if you had always wanted to learn the craft.
