A ranging wildfire has swept over the Sacramento River and entered the Western Section of the town of Reading, killing one resident and sending others to flee their homes. A Flames are moving fast and out of control destroying homes and forced news anchors at Reading Television station KRCR-TV to cut short their late night NEWS and abandon the station last night. The Vibra Hospital in West Reading was also evacuated and closed. A Shortly after 2 am this morning, additional evacuations were ordered for all of Shasta Lake City, Summit City, the Shasta Visitor Center and all of Shasta Dam Boulevard. This came in addition to the city of Redding issuing evacuation orders for areas west of North Market Street that were north of the Sacramento River, as well as areas south of the river that were west of Overhill Road and Buenaventura Boulevard. A bulldozer operator was also reported being killed, the second this month fighting these fires. The fire erupted Monday afternoon after a vehicle malfunction, Cal Fire said, and quickly began to devour tinder-dry grass and brush, consuming more than 28,000 acres before jumping the Sacramento River into the city limits. Many homes are threatened as high winds continue to push the flames into the North California City of 90 thousand residents and has burned over 45 thousand acres. A Amtrak reports train traffic between Sacramento and Oregon has been interrupted due to this Carr fire.
