***Now through September 9th -
COLOR! COLOR! & MORE COLOR! Summer shows at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital celebrate color.
***ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY by Bob Fera is the show on display in the Art Can Heal Gallery. Photographer Bob Fera’s interest in astronomy began at an early age, with a few unsuccessful attempts to photograph the heavens as a young teenager. He rediscovered his interest in the night sky in the early 1990s, and seriously pursued astrophotography. Fera was fortunate to be able to study under several of the finest astrophotographers in the world, and is grateful for the guidance and friendship.
***WONDERS: watercolors by Judy Dawson grace the Garden Gallery. The learning process never stops for artist Judy Dawson.
***THE ART OF HEALING acrylics by Lil McGill is on exhibit in the Chapel Gallery. The fact that Lil McGill is both an artist and a poet is apparent in her work. Working with acrylic on canvas, McGill allows the paint to flow and blend to create their own worlds, reminiscent of deep space nebulae, starbursts, and undersea visions.
***MENAGERIE mixed media works by Louise Pryor in on display in the Infusion Therapy Center, 11710 Education Street. Artist Louise Pryor celebrates her loves of animals in her work. An ever changing, varied assortment of animal companions; the
domesticated ones like cats, dogs, rats, and chickens but also wild ones - injured
birds, bats, and possums provides both inspiration and subject matter. She uses a combination of acrylic paint and Permapaque® opaque archival quality markers to achieve the bold, colorful effect she wants in her portraits.
***The public is invited to a reception for the artists Thursday, June 19, 2008 from
4:30-6:30 PM Conference Room A, Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. For more information, contact Laurie Barrows, Curator, Art Can Heal at (530) 389-8504 or artcanheal@colfaxnet.com.
