Don & Chere Yamasaki The Garden Guru with Don & Chere Yamasaki Saturday 9 -10am Email Us Horticulturist and former nurseryman Don Yamasaki is KAHI'S Garden Guru (The Gu), dispensing gardening tips, horticultural folklore, and botanical babble every Saturday morning from 9 to 10 am. The Gu enjoys gardening, bonsai, and pressing oil from the olives on their 100+ year old trees. Chere Yamasaki, Mrs. Garden Guru (Mrs. Gu), calms The Gu down when he begins to rant about ecological abuses to the earth by "anthropocentric" humans. In her "spare time" Mrs. Gu enjoys quilting, working in her rose garden, and tending her irises and daylilies. Jerry Doyle The Jerry Doyle Show Live, Weekdays 12 - 3pm Email Me Jerry Doyle. Exposing the corrupt, challenging the Hollywood Elite, Informing America. The program is caller-driven, issue-oriented, and fast-paced. Listeners enjoy Doyle's wit, as well as his ability to seriously engage callers from across the nation in fascinating conversations. Doyle is best known for playing the character of Michael Garibaldi on the Emmy Award winning TV series Babylon 5. In July of 1992, Doyle shot the pilot for Babylon 5, and in 1998, completed his 110th episode of the hit series landing Doyle on the cover of TV Guide Magazine. Gregg Knapp The Greg Knapp Experience Weekdays 6 - 9pm The Gregg Knapp Experience with Gregg Knapp can be heard from 6:00 to 9:00 PM weekdays on KAHI Radio. Butch Gardner Cruisin' Garage & Swap Meet Saturday 10 - 11am Email Me The Cruisin Garage & Swap Shop is aimed at anyone who owns and/or is interested in the hobby/history of restoring or individually personalizing a vehicle ie; Classic, Custom, Hot Rod or Muscle car. We talk about cool cars, their events, old & new trends plus automotive politics in and around the Foothills, Sacramento and Calif. that will effect our hobby. From major national 3-day events to 3-hour burger stand cruises, we’ll tell you about them & promote them. We will talk with & about the various car clubs and automotive groups in our area that organize these events and we’ll tell you about their membership and/or event entry requirements. We have guests that will help the hobbyists with their engine, transmission, paint/body, electrical and interior problems & concerns. We’ll even give you opinions on how to purchase a specialty car and yes, even how to get rid of an abandoned one or license one legally. The Swap Shop phone lines are always open for you to sell or buy your specialty parts, find services and dealers, ask for or give advice from the host, co-host or special guests “Live” over the air. Your host is Butch Gardner who has been involved with Hot Rods and Cool cars for over 45 years since the early 60’s in So Cal. His first real Hot Rod was a retired dry lakes racer, a 1932 Ford coupe with a Dodge Red Ram Hemi engine. He arrived in Sacramento in 1966 driving a 1964 Mercury Comet Cyclone with a factory Hi Po engine & 4-speed. Butch is a garage guy & turns his own wrenches and has built or owned over 40 Cool cars. He currently has “2” Hot Rods, a ’32 Ford Hi Boy roadster & ’34 Ford Sedan Delivery sitting in the garage along with a restored, full custom’52 Mercury convertible originally built by “Candy Apple” Joe Bailon of Auburn and “3” early 60’s big Ford Galaxies. He has belonged to several car clubs and automotive organizations over the years and has held offices or directors positions in all of them. He has belonged to the Capitol Auto Club “Thunderbolts’ since 1974 and has just recently earned the “Life Member” status. Over the past 30 years he has been involved in many automotive endeavors including previous radio hosting duties, writing for local newspapers, promoting his own & club car shows, car show judging and specialized auto appraising. He was the general manager of the Grand National Roadster Show and Sacramento Autorama for 6 years and was inducted into the Legends of the Autorama Society in 2003. He was also the host of the Hot August Nights “Cruise of Champions” for over 10 years. The guy that regularly rides “Shot Gun” with him is Mike Clougher who owns and drives a 1947 Chevy Tudor Hot Rod sedan. Mike grew up in Fresno where he drove a white ’58 Impala and lived ”American Graffiti!” Mike has been a member of the “Thunderbolts” for over 10 years and held several offices. He was also a Charter member and officer in the Hangtown Cruisin Assoc. Mike was also a member of the senior staff for Dan Cyr Ent. where he was a floor manager and part of the judging team at the Grand National Roadster Show & Sacramento Autorama. Trevor Mael came to work for KAHI as a High School intern in June of 2006. Trevor now works as a Board Operator and hosts KAHI's Swap Shop and produces KAHI's Live Saturday Morning Line-Up. Trevor loves to play the guitar and take care of his 1973 Opel GT. He lives with his family in Meadow Vista where he recently graduated from Colfax High School. Loyce Smallwood KAHI Connections and The Golf Connection Thuresday 9 - 10am Email Me Read Loyce's Blog Multi-Media Loyce host/produces COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS on ACTV, Auburn's local Cable Access. Loyce also provides business and marketing consulting, helping clients to produce their own television and radio shows and launch and grow their own businesses. Loyce began her radio stint with KAHI in October of 2001, starting with THE HEALTH CONNECTION and has spawned a weekly show focusing on community leaders, business people and movers-and-shakers in the community. Loyce's high profile in the community stems from her real estate and retail background for the past fifteen years. Loyce and Husband Jack re-located from the bustle of the Bay Area in 1988 and settled in bucolic Christian Valley where Loyce and Jack live on one green acre with cats Smurf and Mavis; canine Millicent, and parrot-about-town, Paco. "I'm patting myself on the back and living large because I am, indeed, very fortunate to live and work in Auburn. From the serenity and openness of Christian Valley just ten miles to the radio station and I'm connecting with my friends, associates and contacts. There is just NO way I could have planned all this great good fortune; and I hope to persevere in my mission to connect and be connected within our wonderful community". Now in her sixth year at KAHI, Loyce hosts her CONNECTIONS program from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Thursdays. The first half hour of programming includes colorful, local guests from the world of published authors, entertainment and entrepreneurs. From 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM Loyce hosts THE GOLF CONNECTION with guest golf pro instructors, players, course maintenance and club management experts and others involved in the great game of golf. Topics include etiquette, history, attire, equipment and the changing face of golf. Local experts offer golf tips and provide information about different golf courses in Placer and adjacent counties. Jerry Henry Email Me Jerry Henry is a US Air Force Veteran and graduate of California State University. He wears many different hats at KAHI including President and General Manager. He does production and fill in work wherever needed. Jerry started working for KAHI in August 1995. Jerry Henry gets his start in radio in1975 Roy Masters Advice Line Overnight with Roy Masters Weeknights 10pm - 1am More than a talk host, Roy Masters is also a listen host. He has counseled radio callers since Dr. Laura was in knickers with a unique ability to hear inner problems, heal fears and sexual stresses, and help people take charge of their own lives.
