This is one of the best schedules we have ever had, with lots of big games and several “firsts.”
Week 1, the two-time defending Pioneer Valley League Champion Placer Hillmen rekindle their old rivalry with Nevada Union where Placer coach Joey Montoya got his varsity Wing-T start under coach Dave Humphers. Week 2, first ever meeting between Montoya’s former team, Pioneer and Placer. Week 3, D-I Sheldon makes its first appearance at Placer’s LeFebvre Stadium.
Three of the next four games are with Casey Taylor’s Del Oro Golden Eagles. Saturday night in Week 3, southern California powerhouse Vista Murrieta (Riverside Co.) comes to Loomis to take on the defending Nor Cal Champions. In Week 4, national powerhouse De La Salle of Concord, ranked 17th in the nation and 5th in California, comes to call against Del Oro in a rematch from last year.
Week 5, the first ever meeting between Placer and a relative newcomer to the Sacramento area Vista del Lago of Folsom. The following week, Folsom High, ranked 14th in the nation and 4th in California, takes on Del Oro. These two teams have been at the top of the rankings in the Sacramento area in recent history.
Other local teams…Bear River, Lincoln and Colfax will also be featured on our broadcasts. And every broadcast will include scoring updates from around the Sacramento area. Carl Clark and I are looking forward to a great season on KAHI. Don’t forget…download the app, and listen to us live on the Internet. Also, join us Tuesday nights from 7-8 PM for our local sports show, featuring local coaches and sports writers.
