The Orange County District Attorney is reopening the case involving William Evins who was convicted of killing Joan Anderson in her Fountain Valley home in 1979 after the DA reviewed similarity in the killing to the MO of the East Area Rapist, 72 year old Joseph DeAngelo who is being held without bail in the Sacramento County Jail. A lawyer says the construction worker was wrongly convicted of the killing even though he pleaded guilty at the time. The lawyer is part of an Orange County law group that looks at cases they believe were incorrectly charged due to flimsy evidence. The group has sighted several similarities to the East Area Rapist also believed to be the Golden State Killer. The Anderson murder also happened in a neighborhood where he had targeted in the spree that dates back to the 70as and 80as. The DA office will report findings following DNA results.
