Jenine Windeshausen, Placer County Treasurer announced this week that 5 p.m. Tuesday December 10, is the deadline to pay the first installment of county property taxes. State law demands payment be paid on time or there is a 10% penalty. Taxpayers have several ways to make payments. To pay by mail, send payment to 2976 Richardson Drive, Auburn, CA 95603-2640. Payment must be postmarked no later than Dec. 10, by U.S. Postal Service, to avoid penalties. To pay by credit card, debit card, or electronic funds transfer (EFT), visit placer.ca.gov/tax or call toll free, 1-866-4TAXPMT (1-866-482-9768), fees apply. Online payments made through the tax collectoras website are accepted without penalty until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 10. To pay in person, go to the Treasurer-Tax Collectoras Office, 2976 Richardson Drive in Auburn. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. A drive-up deposit box is located in the front of the building, and another deposit box is located in the second-floor lobby of the tax collectoras Office. Payments must be placed in the drop boxes no later than 5 p.m. on Dec 10, to avoid penalty.
