At approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday morning, a disturbance was reported between a male and a store clerk working at the AM PM on Dry Creek Road, in Auburn. The male suspect threatened the clerk and placed him in a chokehold. The suspect then stole a wine bottle and walked out of the store. Deputies responded to the disturbance and began searching for the suspect, who was identified as 55-year old Michael Medley, of Auburn, from surveillance footage. Deputies found Medley hiding in a nearby bush, where he then became verbally aggressive towards deputies. Medley threatened to shoot and kill the deputies, and did not follow their commands. A Placer County Sheriffa s K-9 was deployed to bring Medley into compliance. Medley was arrested and charged with robbery, threats, obstructing and resisting a peace officer.
