May 7th - 17th - Sierra College Juried Student Exhibition

The Sierra College Ridley Gallery presents our 21st Annual Juried Student Exhibition, running May 7-17, 2018. This exhibition continues the Ridley Gallery’s tradition of showcasing the fantastic work generated by our students at Sierra College in a variety of media including painting, drawing, print making, sculpture, ceramics, metal work, photography, digital work, and more! This year’s juror is Liv Moe, Executive Director of Verge Center for the Arts in Sacramento. An awards reception for this exhibition will be held on Thursday May 8 from 5-7pm.

This exhibition is generously sponsored by the Associated Student of Sierra College, the Sierra College Patron’s Club, the Sierra College Friends of the Library, Systech Displays, Blick Art Supplies, University Art, Alpha Fired Arts, and Industrial Minerals Company.

Ridley Galley is located on the first floor of the Library/LR 102, on the Rocklin campus, located at 5100 Sierra College Blvd., Rocklin. Regular hours for Ridley Gallery are 11am-6:00 pm Monday through Thursday.  Admission to Ridley Gallery is free and open to the public. There is a $3 parking fee on campus. Parking permits are available at dispensers located on the campus parking lot.

May 10th - Human Trafficking Awareness Walk

May 14th & 15th – UC Cooperative Extension Workshop

University of California Cooperative Extension will be hosting two two-day workshops in May 2018 designed for landowners and land managers wanting to gain skills in prescribed fire planning and implementation. Dates and times are:

  • May 14th and 15th, 2018 at UC Berkeley’s Blodgett Research Forest, 4501 Blodgett Forest Road, Georgetown, CA
  • May 16th and 17th, 2018 at the UC Sierra Foothill Research and Extension Center, 8279 Scott Forbes Road, Browns Valley, CA.

Each workshop will feature similar content, however the first workshop will be held in a forested setting featuring prescribed fire in forested areas and the second in a rangeland setting featuring prescribed fire in rangelands.

Registration by May 7th is required to participate. Please go to http://ucanr.edu/2018rxfireworkshops for registration information and costs. After registering, you will be provided with further instructions on the workshop and the agenda of presentations.

Friday & Saturday, May 18th & 19th – Roseville Quilt Guild

The Roseville Quilt Guild holds their 2018 Quilt Show, “Celebrate Liberty through Quilts” Friday & Saturday, May 18th & 19th at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 6365 Douglas Blvd, Granite Bay. Enjoy the quilt show, vendors, a boutique, raffle baskets, and door prizes. Refreshments and Lunch will be available for purchase. Admission is $7.00 and parking is free. Saturday, September 8th – VFW Post 2003 POW/MIA Ceremony

VFW Post 2003 invite you to honor our Northern California Prisoner of War/Missing in Action.

The ceremony will be held at the Colfax Veteran’s Memorial Hall from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and will include a ceremonial retirement of our US flag.
