The Auburn Police Department has gone Hi-Tech. A newly installed license plate reader camera was used over the weekend in Auburn, and late evening Saturday, snapped a license plate at Auburn Folsom Road and Indian Hill intersection, and triggered an alert to officers that the vehicle was registered as a stolen vehicle from Sacramento. Officers searched the area and found the vehicle in a driveway on Gina Louise Lane and the driver 33 year old Lorena Brazovan of Roseville was arrested and booked into Placer County Jail on a charge of possession of stolen property and also on an outstanding warrant of possession of a controlled substance. The vehicle was returned to the owner. A The technology, not new in police work, scans a license plate, alerts the dispatcher and then searches a data base that is shared by state police agencies, and if there is a match, reads back to the police with information on the status of the vehicle.
