The Birdsall Road Access Road to the North Fork of the American River has opened this week after extensive repairs that started in 2019 and finished this past February. Birdsall Road river access is a popular launch or recovery site for non-motorized watercraft. It’s immediately downstream of the Rocky Island Bar kayak and rafting rapids developed as part of Placer County Water Agencya s American River Pump Station project. The repairs also enhanced river rescue operations since it is the most convenient vessel launching site and emergency access to the area.
